Timimoun, the ochre jewel of the Gourara

A BIT OF HISTORY

Its foundation dates back to the XIIIᵉ century, attributed to the saint Sidi Musa U-Lmesaud, marking its role as a religious and social center. Becoming an essential commercial crossroads of the Gourara, it traded dates and oases for wheat, tea and sugar. Today, it remains a vibrant ksar, surrounded by a lively modern town and a palm grove maintained by a system of foggaras.
