A BIT OF HISTORY

Boumerdès, formerly known as the Black Rock in colonial times, has always been a strategic point on the Mediterranean coast. Its history is marked by the Ottoman presence, maritime exchanges and the Andalusian influence, perceptible in its architecture and certain culinary traditions. Today, the town is also known as the home of the M’hamed Bougara University, and for its growing role in Algerian seaside tourism.
