Jijel

Jijel – Wild treasure between sea and mountains
Nestling between the Mediterranean and the foothills of the Babors massif, Jijel is a destination in a class of its own, combining unspoilt nature, Berber traditions and heavenly beaches. Still unknown to mass tourism, it attracts travellers in search of authenticity, turquoise waters and rugged landscapes.

Un peu d’histoire

Jijel, formerly Igilgili in Roman times, was a strategic port and trading center in the heart of Numidia. Destroyed then rebuilt several times, the town has retained a proud, rebellious soul. Its history is also marked by piracy, naval battles and Berber resistance. Today, Jijel remains a cultural bastion of maritime Kabylia, where Tamazight and Arabic are spoken in singular harmony.
