Blida – The Oasis of the Atlas Gates

Nestling at the foot of the Atlas Mountains, Blida - nicknamed the City of Roses - is a refreshing stopover just 50km south-west of Algiers. Un peu d’histoire

Founded in the XVIᵉ century by Andalusians expelled from Spain, Blida takes its name from Bou Laïda (“the little town”). It prospered thanks to its orchards and strategic position on the caravan routes. Its typical architecture, fountains and gardens are still a reminder of this Arabo-Andalusian heritage.
